Lithuania beautifully paid tribute to Canada in honour of its 152-year anniversary of Confederation. Vilnius Town Hall was silhouetted in the colours of the Canadian flag, as well as its iconic red maple leaf. The Canada Day celebration was attended by Canada’s ambassador Kevin Rex and the President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania, Rimas Čuplinskas.

About 100 political, social and business dignitatries celebrated Canada Day in Vilnius, a holiday which commemorates the union of four North American provinces in 1867 that formed the nation of Canada. The event was jointly organized by the Canadian embassy and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania.

Guests included Canada’s ambassador to the Baltics, Kevin Rex, as well as senior trade commissioner Beth Richardson. The President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Rimas Čuplinskas, also inducted two new members to the board: Circle K Lithuania and Agropro.

Attendees were treated to a special Canadian beer with a maple syrup base called Red Maple Ale, courtesy of Canadian-born brewer Viktoras Lukošius. Meanwhile, chef-virtuoso Deivydas Praspaliauskas contributed a special Canada Day cake for the occasion.
