Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) Students Captivate NBA Lovers with New Basketball Video Game

Lithuanian Sports University students are again surprising onlookers with their ambition in heralding the NBA. Recently, they conducted a study on the marketing of the league, and now they’ve established a “Game League,” which unites personal computer and Playstation4 console holders for the online NBA game “NBA 2K15. „Game League” expands the circle of partners and works in conjunction with the Lithuanian Sports University.

“I have no doubt that sports, science and information technology are particularly related. Video games stimulate interest in the real game (of basketball) and physical activity,” says the games director, Edgaras Abromavicius.
This game has been generating such a buzz that Mantas Kalnietis of Lithuania’s National basketball team, made an appearance at the contract signing ceremony. “This game is very realistic . In order to play it, you must have skill and tactical knowledge of the game. Mostly people play virtual football, but now, when I have free time on my hands, I’m going to give the game a shot,” said the basketball star.

Six months ago, LSU students visited the NBA headquarters in London, and now, armed with their insights, they’ve managed to grab the attention of the very same leagues’ managers. ” The mission of the University is to reflect the latest sports science trends and challenges. I am glad that the work of our students has generated interest from one of the world’s major sports organizations. We support their aspirations to find new niches for implementing ideas,” said LSU Chancellor Mindaugas Balčiūnas.

Presently, more than 30 thousand people in Lithuania play ” NBA 2K15 „- and an impressive 5 million worldwide.
“The NBA pays a lot of attention to this game, because they receive substantial revenue from its licensing. Most importantly, research suggests that it encourages people to play basketball, and to be physically active,” said E. Abramovicius.
